ARTWORKS // PRINTS

This catalogue features digital artworks created using scanned acrylic paint, ink, watercolour, photography and textured paper that has been digitally cut out and manipulated. As an extension of the physical artworks in the first catalogue, the featured works all examine and explore the same themes.

The digital artworks are the natural consequence of my life as a designer and my ever-developing creative process. There is a definite sense of release and freedom in producing these digital works, as the pieces of paint texture can be digitally cut out and used over and over again with much less wastage and more room for experimentation.

At the heart of Us

The shape of the human heart inspired this aesthetic representation of the relationship between man, woman and nature. We all share the same origin — we are all made of atoms and cells. Although I alter shapes, there is still a strong sense of the familiar, and the variety of techniques and textures used gives an ethereal quality to the work.

Blackholes

As a child, I had an inexplicable fear of black holes. Somehow, I thought they would suck up the earth and all the planets and that we would all disappear into nothingness. As an adult, my fear has turned into curious thought; what if black holes became art? Massive voids through a telescope or cells under a microscope. It’s all a matter of perspective.

This catalogue features hand-made artworks on both canvas and paper that have been created with acrylic paint, watercolour and textured paper, as well as cut-outs of all these mediums. The featured artworks all examine and explore the relationship between man, woman, God and nature. In essence, these works are centred on the concept of interconnectedness – how we are all inextricably and unfathomably bound to the earth and to one another; how we are all made of the same “stuff”.

Naming Plants

This textured acrylic painting is an abstract representation of a thought on how Adam and Eve would have named the plants in the Garden of Eden.
